The benefits of pooled travel accounts

A family miles account consolidates the miles earned by different family members into a single pool, offering a range of benefits that extend far beyond typical travel perks. Firstly, it simplifies the logistics of travel during challenging times. Rather than scrambling to coordinate individual bookings or worrying about the availability of miles in separate accounts, a family miles account provides a unified resource that can be accessed when needed most. During periods of bereavement, the ability to access a shared pool of miles can be invaluable. Whether it's arranging last-minute flights for family members to attend a funeral or facilitating travel for those needing to be by a loved one's side during their final moments, having a collective resource streamlines the process and alleviates financial strain.

Emirates Airlines offers a program called "My Family" where up to 8 family members can pool their Skywards Miles into a single account, and it’s not just flight miles. Every time you fly with Emirates, flydubai and other airline partners and spend with Emirate’s bank, hotel, car rental, retail and lifestyle partners, miles can be automatically pooled into a My Family account.  Similarly, British Airways offers a "Household Account" feature where up to 7 people residing at the same address can pool their Avios points together. With British Airways, Avios points are summed up by purchases through British Airways, Avios Credit Cards and other popular credit cards such as American Express, Capital One, Chase Ultimate Rewards, Diners Club Rewards, Bilt Rewards and submitting your opinions through their ERewards Program.

Sometimes preparing estate plans is not all about deleting accounts and memorializing social media.  Many of these loyalty programs allow benefits to be transferred and sometimes it’s as easy as opening an account.
